Reporting from Berlin Fashion Week, Sanrio’s intrepid reporter had the pleasure of seeing Marina Hoermanseder’s SS2017 first hand at the Kronprinzenpalais.
The collection paid homage to a summer’s day in the French Riviera, with dazzling butterflies, bold flowers, glittering pearls and, of course, her signature buckles and leather corsetry.
It was also a chance for the press to have a sneak peek of Marina’s upcoming collaboration with Hello Kitty. The designer is a huge Hello Kitty fan and said: “If someone had asked my closest friends and family what my biggest dream for a design cooperation would be, they would have immediately known: Hello Kitty!”
Hello Kitty played a decisive role very early in the life of Marina Hoermanseder and inspired her to become a designer in the first place. Her passion for the brand becomes even more apparent while having a look around her apartment in Berlin, where you can find Hello Kitty items like a toaster, bedding, slippers as well as a neon pink fridge.
But back to the show, where Hello Kitty played a subtle but key role on the t-shirts of the show crew and Marina’s team, plus in the goodie bags for front row bloggers and press, with special phone covers. The cherry on the cake was 3 limited edition signature Kasper Hello Kitty bags, hand made by Marina herself, which were presented to her three favourite fashion bloggers. There was quite a buzz around the upcoming collaboration which will be revealed in full in September: we can barely wait!
